Violence against women is an appalling human right violation, but it is not inevitable, we can put a stop to this. One in three women may suffer from abuse and violence in her life time, this is a sin, social sin and violation of human rights, yet it remains one of the invisible and under recognized pandemics of our time. We have to promote human solidarity, avoid indifference, and play a part with society in the solution of problem of violence, in order to make this world a better place to live.
Why always women are subjected to violence? Women are considered to be weak and coward and can be easily snubbed. With this changing world we see that vision of people is also changing, now people realize their duties and rights, women now, are well aware of their rights but unfortunately can not, struggle for their because they are dominated by men, power holder of societies. Nationally and internationally different NGO are working on the agenda to end violence against women, many countries have enforced women protection act to consider domestic violence as legal charge and under this law the victims are given protection and the violators are fined or sent to prison after trial.
A part from NGO and government actions, many multinationals are now donating funds for improvement of women and to end violence against women. AVON, the company for women which has been trying since 1886 to enhance beauty of women by offering versatile products i.e. hand bags, beauty care , jewelry, cosmetics etc, has also invested a lot for social causes especially women issues. AVON has proved it self truly philanthropic and concern for issue of domestic violence by its recent announcement of “AVON Believe World Tour” on 25th January 2011, at 125th anniversary celebration at Atlanta. Global brand Ambassador of AVON Reese Witherspoon and CEO Andrea Jung announced $ 1Million Global believe fund to fulfill this mission, 125000 AVON representatives will participate in it, to accomplish this, 16 cities are included in “AVON Believe World Tour” campaign i.e. Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Istanbul, New York, Chicago, Mexico City, Warsaw, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Manila, Shanghai, New Delhi and Johannesburg.
